We're not so far removed from the rule of the kings and the queens as much as we'd like to think
But when you try to bring it up in conversation people seem to think you're falling off the brink
Only seven hundred years since we first landed our ships out in the west
But we're always so sure that the point that we're at is the point of our very best
Now people love to scream about the lack of liberation while others saying everything will be alright
But raising your voice to that lack of a choice is like bringing a gun to a bomb fight
If you speak too loud and try to dicipline the crowd they'll silence you for every sound
It's been two hundred years since the Democratic Council but we've still got our royalty running around
You might think that we've come so far but we've got so far to go
And you might think you're so original but everything has been done before
We try to model off America but they're not free from executive scandal
So step up on that panel and tell us what you think we can handle if it even means anything anymore
Now sometime in the future our children and their children will all be seeing this in a museum
And they'll be thinking it was some distant time period, like seventy years ago, and it could never happen to them
But that's just what we're wired to believe and perceive in this endless cycle for seeing who is boss
They get so rattled so you've got to pick your battles if you ever want to get a single point across
You might think that we've come so far but we've got so far to go
And you might think you're so original and know everything that you're needing to know
All we want is control but so does everybody else in their mission
And with all of this division, we're heading for derision, so pack it up for the exhibition

Digital Insurance

Out on the streets you've got to find the nerve
To gather up all of the respect that you deserve
You can't go living for it
But you can't go on without it
It's hard to be yourself without
Demanding what you're worth
When the hand that feeds you
Is also the hand that keeps you down on this earth
It's the way of the future, yeah
To live in a virtual world online
Wired up to your brain
There's no need to complain or fight
For digital insurance
Got to keep moving and spreading out the word
A paradigm shift of everything you've learned
And our life won't be that different
Still got the same old problems with it
As the system tries to change its shape
To another point of view
Another year, another day
Another way to take advantage of you
It's the way of the future, yeah
Paying all of your bills online
You know nothing's gonna change
It will all be the same in time
With digital insurance
It's the way of the future, yeah
They'll monitor all of your life online
Now you're trapped in this place
And they'll always take up space in your life
Digital insurance

Unawareness

Well don't you know that just the other day we were walking down the boulevard
Down by the shore, just talking about the state of the world
When the ground starts to shake
And the people go running around screaming out every which way
Just when you think it's something obvious
Turns out you're really just oblivious
Enough to ruin it for the rest of us
Oh you know that the news is falling out if you're ready or not
Not just between Camsot and Fossil Rock
From the shores of Auntengauter to the Cliffs of Mulsai
These threats are far too serious to just brush aside
And when you think you've got it figured out
You'll find that's not what it was all about
If there's anyone left who's still in doubt
Oh you know we've all been young and stupid but you're taking the cake
Getting mixed up in the attitude of terrorism's wake
There's bombs detonating down in Tokekeke Square
But you've got your fireworks and you don't know why nobody would care
This year has got us feeling paranoid
So expect of us to be annoyed
When you can't resist your stupid toys
You're so unaware
You're so unaware
You're so unaware

Revisionist History

Thinking back to all those days
In the backroom pad where we'd all play
It's easy to see what I recall
Just wasn't how it went at all
The years will make you change your mind
Corrupt your thoughts and leave you blind
But the years won't change the words of the song
Even when your thinking was wrong
It's a document, it's evidence
That the past just isn't what you thought it was
Now we didn't understand so much
Young and dumb and out of touch
We'd scream until the break of day
Thinking we had so much to say
It's funny how the notions of youth
Always seem to stray so far from the truth
And when you find yourself back again
It just hurts remembering all your plans
But you've gotta move on, it's just a song
And you can make it better than it was

Turning Of The Century

It's the turning of the century
And it doesn't mean anything to me
So go ahead and make your plans
This is not the promised land
I don't need to see your hand
Anyone can take a stand
Any singer, any band
People thinking it's a big event
But I have never seen the point of it
I don't need to count the days
It doesn't matter anyway
It's just a number on a page
I got nothing left to say
Just hope everything will be okay
It's the turning of the century
And it doesn't mean anything to me
It doesn't matter how this ends
Any letter that I send
Will never take us back again
I just want to make amends
So we can keep on being friends
